Gilbert & George’s favourite film, this adaptation of Charles Dickens’s The Old Curiosity Shop tells the story of how a shopkeeper and his granddaughter are intimidated by their evil landlord, Quilip. Eventually they decide to flee but Quilip follows them. Successfully evoking the spirit of the book, this film is still a treat.
