Frederick Wiseman was a lawyer before he turned to filmmaking, and he returns to familiar territory in Juvenile Court, a record of the Memphis, Tennessee, Juvenile Court. Detailing a diverse range of cases involving foster home placement, drug abuse, armed robbery, child abuse and sexual assult, Wiseman manages to reveal the compassionate side of authority while remaining sympathetic to the young offenders who populate the film.
