Pious widow Esperanza is devastated when her teenage daughter dies as the result of a mysterious virus contracted during a routine throat operation. Remarkably, she is told that her daughter is still alive by a vision of Saint Jude who appears in her dirty oven. So begins Esperanza’s journey through sleazy brothels and eventually to Los Angeles to try and find her lost child.
