The pupils from St. Joseph's
Primary School made their own Material Stories using digital
cameras and animation software. Working in pairs or in small
groups of three, each group decided what kind of materials they
wanted to use and why. The resulting animations show the pupils
personal and considered interpretations of materials and their
meanings put to use in the telling of stories.
The individual themes of St. Joseph's Material Animations highlight
the qualities and use of materials; the differences between
the manmade and the natural; how some materials are
stronger than others; the ways in which two materials can
relate to create new objects; and even how humans interfere
in the process of material relationships and meanings.
