Usher We (Down There) is a new collaboration between the London-based artist Bonnie Camplin and the Warsaw-based artist Paulina Olowska commissioned by Tate Modern for UBS Openings: Saturday Live.

This unique event will take place in the normally inaccessible oil tanks of the former power station. Buried to the south of the building, these dramatic spaces are at the heart of plans to transform Tate Modern for 2012. The performance takes place every hour from 10.00–18.00 in the form of a guided tour, led by the artists, in which the participants become intricately involved in the strange ritual and drama of this format. Drawing attention to light and sound and a range of made and gathered objects and images installed in the oil tanks, the collaboration is an intense meditation on themes of decay and the moment. As the artists describe it, Usher We (Down There) is a 'guided tour of the industrial-age nether world conducted with reverence and in complete silence', as a 'physical encounter with substance'.

This performance is part of Out of Bounds, the ICA and Tate will join organisations across the country in encouraging people to explore hidden, backstage and non-public sites, through small interventions, artists' tours, screenings, commissions or other events. Participating organisations include Cornerhouse, Manchester, The Exhange, Penzance, FACT, Liverpool, and Wysing Arts, Cambridge. The ICA will stage an outdoor sound installation by Scottish rising star, the artist Susan Philipsz on the usually private roof terrace overlooking the Mall.
