This unique event is placed inside the Rothko exhibition, contrasting fully notated and free, open form abstract compositions by two New York masters, both known for their close ties with visual artists and Rothko in particular.

The pieces are performed by some of the notable musicians who contributed to the John Cage Musicircus at Tate 2 years ago, The Kreutzer String Quartet and percussionist  Richard Benjafield
