Bring Your Father's Favourite Slide starts from memories of childhood, when our fathers used to spend hours in the blacked-out bathroom developing holiday photos. Darkness includes a place for happy memories of holidays and of childhood.

Please ask your father for his favourite slide. An image that holds a memory. Bring the slide with you. Inside How It Is, you will find the chance to project your image into the dark space. We ask you to power the projector yourself - much like riding a bicycle - to bring for a moment your image, and a memory, to life.

Bring Your Father's Favourite Slide will allow you to look into a favourite moment, captured by a different generation of your family. It is a simple piece, it is a piece to take part in, and it is a piece to experience. In the intimate darkness, watch strangers (or friends) light up the images of their relative's memory.

So we invite you, the audience, to create this piece. It is inspired by a personal memory, hence the title. But of course: you can rebel against the title and bring your grandmother's slide. Or the slide of someone else entirely.

If you would like your slide to be part of this performance but can't join us yourself, you can send in your 35mm slide. We would like to offer visitors the opportunity to choose someone else's image to show. So if you are happy for your image to be included in this way, then please send it along with a pre-paid and addressed envelope for return to:

Vanishing Point

Please do let us know in a few words who took the image, what it shows and what you think the captured moment means to the person who took it. Do you yourself have memories of the moment it was taken?
