This short symposium explores the work of Aleksandr Rodchenko and Liubov Popova between 1917 and 1929. Arguably two of the Russian avant-garde's most influential and important artists, they were integral to the stylistic and theoretical underpinning of Russian Constructivism.

The curators of the exhibition, art historians and critics chart the evolution of their aesthetics from abstract painting to graphic design and discuss their work across a range of media including designs for cinema and theatre as well as numerous posters, books, and costumes.

Speakers include Christina Kiaer, consultant curator of Rodchenko & Popova: Defining Constructivism, Maria Kokkori, conservator - conservation scientist, specialising in the work of Rodchenko and Popova, Maria Tsantsanoglou, director of the Greek State Museum, Margarita Tupitsyn, curator of Rodchenko & Popova: Defining Constructivism and Syrago Tsiara, Director of the Thessaloniki Center of Contemporary Art, chaired by Paul Wood, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Art History at the Open University.
