On the occasion of the first major Rothko exhibition in the UK for over twenty years, curator Achim Borchardt-Hume offers a personal tour of the artist's remarkable late series from 1958 until 1970 which are at the heart of this show, discussing issues around their conception as well as the way they are presented together here for the first time.

Among these are an impressive selection of Seagram murals reuniting Tate's paintings with their counterparts from Japan and the US, Rothko's extraordinary Black-Form paintings, his large-scale Brown and Grey works on paper, as well as his final series of Black on Grey paintings.
