Architects Caruso St John and artist Thomas Demand have a long history of collaboration. Following the exhibition design and film screening structures Caruso St John have produced for numerous Demand exhibitions notably installations in Venice and at the Fondation Cartier, Paris Demand is now making a quietly political contribution to the architects’ public space project for Zurich.

Within Caruso St John’s urban square, Demand has designed a building modelled on the infamous Nail House in Chongqing, China, whose owners fought an unsuccessful three year battle against developers' plans for demotion. The event highlights the reciprocal contributions possible between architectural and artistic disciplines.
