Wednesday 2 September 2009, 18.30–20.00

Per Kirkeby is a polymath artist whose multi-faceted career began in the 1960s at the newly-formed radical 'Experimental School' in Copenhagen. Assistant curator Cliff Lauson will give an illustrated talk in the exhibition, focusing on this early period of Kirkeby's career.

The artist's involvement with international Fluxist performances, interventions and writings, while at the same time maintaining seemingly contradictory links with old masters and more traditional painterly values form the basis for this exploration.
