From architectural practice to projects concerned with public space, from history and art in inner cities to major writings
on American suburbs, gender and housing, Dolores Hayden is one of the most important figures dealing with the public sphere and the environment today. She is now Professor of Architecture
and American Studies at Yale University, while American Yard, a collection of her poetry, appeared last year. Gillian Rose is Professor of Geography at the Open University, and has written extensively on gender and the public and private uses of
visual images. She has also researched the impact of public art.
