Glass that cleans itself, purple gold, transparent concrete and digital paper are just some of the new materials being developed
in science laboratories. Through discussions and demonstrations, this event explores how such materials are used in architecture,
design, art and fashion, and aims to set an arts agenda for materials research in the twenty-first century.
The speakers are Ron Arad (designer), Sharon Baurley (textile designer), Brian Derby (materials scientist), Niall McLaughlin (architect) and Mike Smith (engineer). Organised and chaired by Mark Miodownik (materials scientist).
