Frida Kahlo
Curators’ Talk

Friday 22 July 2005, 18.30–19.30

As well as being one of the most important painters of the twentieth century, Frida Kahlo has become a cult figure, a feminist icon and a major influence for artists, filmmakers, dancers, fashion designers. She is celebrated worldwide as much for her personality as for her paintings, but then very few artists put so much of themselves into their work. The curators of the Frida Kahlo exhibition, Emma Dexter and Tanya Barson, discuss the ideas, experiences, themes and contexts that enable us to begin to explore the intertwining of life and art that makes up Frida Kahlo’s world.
