Weather stories Eventually we chipped the pasta out and thawed it

I was cooking for an expedition. I had cooked some pasta and was draining it outside the tent using only the pan lid as I had nothing else. The pasta slipped through the lid onto the ice. I went back into the tent to get a fork to get the pasta back into the pan but by the time I got back, a few seconds later, the pasta had frozen solid to the ice!

I believe the temperature was about -40°C and there was quite a wind blowing at the time. Eventually we chipped the pasta out and thawed it as we needed all the calories we could get just to keep warm.
