29 July 2002 at approximately 18:30 in the Wigston district of Leicester.
A globe of red light, emitting sparks, entered the living room of a house. The object which travelled at a height of about one metre from the floor, moved slowly enough for its globular shape to be distinctly observed, and left a slight odour of burning (probably ozone) in the room. According to the account given by a journalist working for a local news agency, an eleven-year-old girl, Jade Greenwood, was actually struck on the head by the object, which left a faint red mark on her forehead. Jade stated that she experienced a terrific electric shock and felt a distinct sensation in one leg as if it had taken fire.’
