Part of UBS Openings: The Long Weekend 2008

The Cholmondeleys and The Featherstonehaughs are two of the foremost contemporary dance companies currently performing in Britain. Under the artistic direction of choreographer Lea Anderson, both companies present work that is diverse, witty and instantly recognisable.

As well as touring extensively throughout the UK and overseas, the companies are also renowned for their pioneering work in non-theatrical spaces and other media such as film and video.

They will work with a group of up to 30 young people recruited from London schools to create a new project for The Long Weekend. They will work together to create "QUICKSILVER" - a series of works that move at times as one entity exploring and systematically measuring space in rooms, corridors, staircases, streets and buildings.

The movements are organic and the audience will experience fleeting moments of movement appear and then disappear unexpectedly. A versatile series of running, walking, staggering and stamping steps are performed in unison, maintaining strict formation, constantly changing direction.
