Jeremy Deller occupies various roles as an artist: curator, social entrepreneur, actor, and producer. His work almost always involves collaborative elements and takes on various forms. He produces books, video, performance, recordings and photography. Perhaps most famous for the Battle of Orgreave, a public re-enactment of the notorious clash between pickets and police during the 1984 UK miners strike, Deller's works continually ask witty but telling questions about cultural identity and social groupings; they intrigue and provoke their viewers.
