Professor of English and Media Arts at UCLA, she has written extensively on literature, science and technology, becoming one of the foremost theorists of the posthuman. Recent publications include Writing Machines, from MIT Press, and the multiple award winning How We Became Posthuman: Virtual Bodies in Cybernetics, Literature and Informatics which ranges from the science-fiction of Philip K Dick to Norbert Wiener's cybernetics and Claude Shannon's information theory. Hayles will be joined by Doreen Massey and Dominic Willsdon. |
