Anya Gallaccio - An Artist Talk
Date: 18 September 2002
Venue: Tate Britain
Anya Gallaccio came to prominence during the Freeze exhibitions of the late '80s. She has worked in a range of materials - flowers, ice
and grass, and a tonne of molten lead poured onto a warehouse floor. The materials are used in unpredictable, almost fantastical
ways. Their transient quality adds to their beauty.
In conversation with the broadcaster and critic Tim Marlow Gallaccio discusses her use of sugar and oak trees in Tate Britain's new Biennial Duveen Sculpture Commission, which responds to the history and architecture of the galleries, as well as to the landscape tradition represented within
Tate's collection.
Supported by Ricki and Robert Conway. Commission sponsored by 'Malvern' English Mineral Water. With the additional support
of The Henry Moore Foundation
