Archive Catalogue
The Archive catalogue consists of records for Tate Archive which covers British Art since 1900 (artists' and institutional archives, posters and microform) and the Tate Public Records (Tate's own historic records). However, audio-visual material held in the Archive is accessible only on the Library catalogue.
Most archives are catalogued as collections, in a hierarchical structure, with a top level record describing the whole collection, second level records covering specific groups of material (e.g. correspondence) and further levels providing more detail within those groups.
You may search solely at collection level, which will identify whole collections relating to a specific person or group. Alternatively you can do a free text search (Any text) which will locate a word or phrase appearing in any field, in any record at any level. However it is advisable to be as specific as possible or limit your search by date or additional search terms.
