Module 1:
Looking At and Thinking About Art
This module asks children to think about art - what it is and what it is not. It includes video discussions with a curator, educators and children.
Module 2:
Visiting a Gallery
This module explores the ways works of art are displayed to the public and provides a structure for a visit to a gallery. It includes videos with curators, art handling technicians, artists, conservators, educators and children.
Module 3:
Sketching in the Gallery
This module investigates sketching, encouraging children to think about what a sketchbook is for and what materials can be used. It includes videos with artists, educators, curators and children.
Module 4:
Sculpture and Installation
This module introduces students to the expanded fields of sculpture and installation and will develop their confidence in thinking and talking about these media. It includes videos and interactive features designed to help your students to fully explore the featured artworks.
Module 5:
Photography, Film and Video
This module introduces students to modern and contemporary photography, film and video. Discussion includes 'why artists use photography, film and video' and 'how film and video as art differ from their appearance and usage in everyday life'.
Module 6:
What Happened to the Object? Conceptual Art
This module introduces students to key ideas about conceptual art; what it is and where it came from. It provides tools to help teachers work with their students and with artworks in the Tate Collection and in other galleries of modern and contemporary art.
