In this work, geometric figures in subdued colours are suspended in a dark, abstract background. The treatment of the surface adds a three-dimensional aspect to the painting. The forms are deliberately asymmetrical and hand-drawn, exemplifying the subtle subversion of European geometric abstraction in Brazilian art through the introduction of organic or destabilising elements. Schendel contributed to the development of Concrete and Neo-Concrete art in Brazil, though she remained detached from those groups and developed a distinct and unique body of work.
