This was at the factory where they make their separation wall to keep the Palestinians out of Israel. So I’d go down there on Shabbat, because everything would be closed, and I’d climb in and snoop around. I found this there, and it just seemed to somehow have the right texture and feel for the project, I photographed it and took it back and showed him and of course he loved it. It evokes that beauty and also decay that you see in his work, and it’s also recycling, and also it’s plastic, and it also has a texture and looks like, silk. It’s one of the more powerful, I think, images and also, you know, for me it is from Israel, from the wall factory, in a place called Yeruham in the Negev desert.
