We know that community group leaders work with a wide range of audiences including adults in non-formal education, social and health settings. Since Tate Modern opened in 2000 we have tried and tested all the activities we suggest on this site with a wide range of adult groups involved in community education. We suggest that your knowledge of your specific group and their interests will guide you in selecting artworks and activities and adapting these where necessary.
Value of Art Pilot Project
Value of Art was initiated by Tate Modern's Community Programme. In 2001 a pilot project took place working with Blackfriars Settlement.
Tate Online Course
Tate's online course on Artists' Techniques and Methods examines works from the Tate collection. You can discover the methods artists use to create their work and then try them out for yourself.
The Russian Doll has become an icon for Value of Art. Suggested by a community group leader participating in the project, it represents the 'unpacking' of possible meanings in artworks and also the way in which we can find value in art on a number of different levels.
Value of Art is sponsored by Lloyd's of London
