Tate Exchange Liverpool is an open experiment; a space for an ongoing programme of events developed by artists, practitioners, and associates from Tate and beyond. It is a place where everyone is invited to collaborate, test ideas and discover new perspectives on life, through art.
We have worked with local universities and arts organisations to create a space within the gallery where you can drop in for a talk, enjoy a chance encounter with a pop-up work of art, watch a live performance, join in a workshop, and get involved with art in new and unexpected ways.
The custom built space provides a comfortable and flexible place for you to get involved. It is located at the heart of Tate Liverpool’s collection display, Constellations: Highlights from the Nation’s Collection of Modern Art, on the first floor galleries amongst work by artists including, L.S Lowry, Pablo Picasso, Sarah Lucas and Camille Pissarro to inspire and encourage participants.
Tate Exchange Liverpool launches with Edge Hill University who will present a projected animation inspired by the gallery’s autumn Yves Klein exhibition and the artist’s interest in Judo. Following Edge Hill University, Associates including Liverpool John Moores University, University of Liverpool, DaDa Fest and Open Eye Gallery will present a series of dance performances, creative writing sessions and workshops dealing with dementia. Tate curators and international artists including Roman Ondák (b. 1966) and Tamara Henderson (b. 1982) will also contribute to the Tate Exchange Liverpool programme through interventions and commissioned pieces.
