On Tuesday 3 June 2014, Matisse Live from Tate Modern was broadcast into cinemas throughout the UK giving audiences an intimate, behind-the-scenes view of Tate Modern’s landmark exhibition: Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs. Featuring commentary on selected works, a biography of the artist, interviews with experts, friends of the artist and rare archive footage of Matisse at work, the film has been called ‘a must-see for any Matisse fans’.
We’re pleased to announce that the film has now been updated, with exclusive access to The Museum of Modern Art, New York as they prepare for the exhibition’s arrival in the States.
From 4 November, cinemas worldwide will be screening Matisse from Tate Modern and MoMA, which includes this exclusive new footage.
The way the film captured Matisse at work, bringing his artistry to life – including resonant readings from Simon Russell Beale – was genuinely inspiring
Matisse from Tate Modern and MoMa is the perfect opportunity to discover Matisse’s final artistic triumph as he began ‘carving into colour’ and his series of spectacular cut-outs was born.
The broadcast is a Seventh Art Productions and Tate Media Film for Mr Wolf and Arts Alliance.
