Build your own InSET session block by block by drawing on the unique resources available at Tate Britain and Tate Modern.

Your day is hosted by a member of the Schools and Teachers Curatorial team and includes visits to either the Tate Britain or Tate Modern galleries as well as the opportunity to work with artists, curators and resources. Groups booking for Tate Britain have the further option of visiting the Prints and Drawings Room, Library and Archive

Block by Block is developed exclusively for you and your colleagues to spend time together in a creative cultural space, within a flexible framework that suits your needs.

Block by Block – Twilight Offer 2015

 Join the Resource Coordinators for an interactive resources session in the gallery as part of our bespoke Teachers InSET.

Block 1

Artist-led gallery workshop

A workshop in the gallery designed and delivered by a practicing artist, shaped by their particular approach, ideas and practice. 

Block 2

Resources

Time to pick up, test and discuss our range of artist devised resources with the Schools and Teachers Resource Coordinators. Includes Tate resources for you to take away.

Block 3

Groups booking for Tate Britain can choose from either visiting the Prints and Drawings Room, or the Library and Archive.

Prints and Drawings Room

A chance to explore this large aspect of Tate’s collection with a member of staff. Look at drawings, watercolours and prints by British and international twentieth-century artists.

Library and Archive

See Tate’s collection of British and International Artists books from the 1960s onwards in the new Library and Archive spaces. A chance to explore interesting materials and printing techniques with specialist staff.

**Please note this block is available at Tate Britain only. Groups booking for Tate Modern can substitute block 3 by having extended time for you and your colleagues in a meeting or studio space or by spending additional time in the Tate Modern exhibitions and displays**

Block 4

Time for you – think/ work/ play

A meeting or studio space at Tate to use however you wish or a chance to take time to explore the Tate Britain or Tate Modern current exhibitions and displays. Exchange this block for any of the sessions during the day or extend your day further by adding it on to the end! Please note that this needs to fit in within our gallery opening times.

Tate Britain New Learning Spaces

Opened in November 2013 and budgeted at £45 million, the transformation of Tate Britain includes new dedicated spaces of learning in the gallery, which are available for you to book as part of your Block by Block InSET.
