Taking its title from a photograph by surrealist artist Claude Cahun, this programme presents contemporary short films involving coded narratives, evocative settings and unsettling imagery. This is the first instalment of Assembly: A Survey of Recent Artists: Film and Video in Britain, 2008–13 and is introduced by curators of this major survey of recent artists’ film and video in Britain.
