At 11.00, Serena Cant describes how artists have depicted fabrics and textiles in works from the collection displays. Serena will explore how artists render woolen, fur and leather textures in paint, the importance and significance of new fabrics, and how textiles and fabrics reflected social class.
At 12.30, Alan Murray leads a BSL tour of Le Passeur by William Stott of Oldham. This is the last opportunity to view the painting before it goes on tour to four UK-partner galleries: Oriel y Parc, Southampton City Art Gallery, Gallery Oldham and Aberdeen Art Gallery, supported by National Lottery players through the Heritage Lottery Fund, the John Ellerman Foundation and Art Fund.
