A special screening of animated films made in the 1970s by Maria Lassnig when she was part of Women/Artist/Filmmakers, Inc., in New York. Exploring themes of female representation, perception and the body’s relationship with machines. The screening will be followed by a discussion between Dr James Boaden, Lecturer in History of Art at the University of York, and author of the essay ‘The Optical Age? Maria Lassnig and American Experimental Film’ in the exhibition catalogue.
