Assistant Curator Stephanie Straine leads a guided tour of Chagall: Modern Master, exploring the works in the exhibition through Chagall’s encounters with artists, poets and the theatre in Paris and Russia. Chagall’s artistic identity was shaped in the period 1911–20 by his exposure to leading avant-garde movements including Cubism, Orphism and Suprematism, and this tour will look at their influence upon his unique painterly expression.
