Art and Language: speaking Teachers' programme

2 May 2013 at 10.30–17.00

Involving practical and discussion based activities in response to Tate’s collection the session explores the use of language and text in art. It is designed to support and extend your classroom practice, opening up a shared discussion around how art can generate debate and promote critical thinking.

Artist Emma Hart will run three sessions looking at how language shapes our encounter with art.

The sessions can be attended as a series or as independent workshops.

Speaking: discussing, questioning, vocalising

What happens when we get together in front of an artwork? What questions is the artwork asking us? Who is doing the talking? What do words do to an artwork?
