We’ve got a whole programme of free activities for children and families that will help you explore Matisse’s ways of seeing, thinking and making.
Before your visit
Download the full guide for families [PDF 535 Kb] and bring it with you on your visit to the exhibition, or you can pick up a copy at the exhibition entrance.
During your visit
The Family Gallery (open daily from 24 July 2014) brings Matisse’s cut-outs to life in a whole new way through specially commissioned sound, animation and sculptural works.
Drop into our Matisse-inspired drawing studio (open weekends, plus Thursdays and Fridays during school holidays) and let your choice of object lead the way on a drawing journey through shape and form, light and shadow.
Pick up Colour Walk from the Family Room (open weekends, plus Thursdays and Fridays during school holidays), and explore the subtle tones of colour that Matisse and other artists in Tate’s collection use in their work. You’ll be able to contribute your findings to the growing Colour Walk archive.
All our activities are inspired by children’s book Meet Matisse by Jean-Vincent Sénac.
After your visit
Tweet @tate_kids using #Matisse and you could see your work online.
