The Humanist Space is the final section of the Museum of Contemporary African Art. When presented during Documenta XI in 2002, one hundred golden bicycles were available to hire during the hundred days of the exhibition, with the intention of generating revenue for humanitarian causes in Africa. The bicycles are branded with the Museum of Contemporary African Art logo, the title of the project and the name of the venue.

Although the bicycles are no longer for hire on a daily basis and are displayed as sculptural objects on the concourse, they may still be ridden occasionally in the future.
