This landmark show explores the final chapter in Matisse’s career in which he began ‘carving into colour’ and his series of spectacular cut-outs was born. The exhibition represents a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see many of the artist’s works in one place. Assistant Curator Flavia Frigeri introduces Matisse’s final works.

Richard Hamilton is widely regarded as a founding figure of pop art, who continued to experiment and innovate over a career of 60 years. Tate Modern presents the first retrospective to encompass the full scope of Hamilton’s work. Join Assistant Curator Hannah Dewar on a tour of the exhibition exploring Hamilton’s relationship to design, painting, photography and television, as well as his engagement and collaborations with other artists.

Create a collaborative installation in the Turbine Hall inspired by Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs and experience the evolving work from the level 2 concourse.

Encounter selected words, questions and quotations and have a discussion with colleagues around the making and construction of meaning in the exhibition.

This resource was devised by Katriona Beales, Helen Rousseau and Martine Rouleau, and is available to self-led groups visiting Tate Britain.
