Exyzt respond to Heather and Ivan Morison’s artwork Skirt of the Black Mouth with a temporary installation that draws people together in a unique way - a feasting table and a wood fired public oven. Through a series of curated events, a wide variety of groups across South London will be invited to enjoy stories together to make bread together and enjoy conversations inspired lots of different themes including the Skirt of the Black Mouth a title taken from Brian Aldiss’s science fiction novel Hothouse.

Exyzt see the Feasting Mouth as a hearth to gather round, an oven to bake feasts, a furnace: a miniature of what once existed in the Bankside Power Station.

Expert baker and graphic designer Alexandre Bettler will be leading all of the feasts. He is interested in creating a space for food, design and conviviality, with bread as a central element, and many friends around enjoying it.

About Exyzt

EXYZT’s manifesto proclaims it as a ‘platform for multidisciplinary creation’ whose aim is to challenge the view of architecture as an independent field of practice. Instead, they embark on experimental living ventures built collectively.

The collective conceive and organise each project as a playground in which cultural behaviours and shared stories relate, mix and mingle.

Each project, always strive to involve different constituencies of the local community in a social network that is invited to inhabit a temporary space.

EXYZT’s manifesto

Be utopian. We want to build new worlds where fiction is reality and games form new grounds for democracy. If space is made by dynamics of exchange, then everybody can be the architects of our world and encourage creativity, reflexion and to renew social behaviours.

Experiment. Architecture can expand into a multidisciplinary game where everyone brings his or her own tools and knowledge to contribute to a collective piece. We wish to incite anyone to re-appropriate and get involved with their own social and physical environment.
