Laura’s work is based on the philosophy of Proust - 'One can’t possess the present, but one can possess the past'. She explains that in her eyes: ‘Former histories combine to make a new history. It’s a form of recycling. Our lives are punctuated by objects, feelings and ideas that are endlessly retrieved and reused. Commercial waste recycling is like psychoanalysis. Both systems aim to re-generate by sifting through forgotten material.’
Laura
was inspired by Eileen Agar’s Angel
of Anarchy, 1936-40.
