The artworks are available through the Art & artists section of this website.

In 2014 we also published the underlying collection dataset so that it may be used for research and other purposes.

The published dataset contains the 'Concise catalogue entries' for all wholly owned artworks in the Tate collection including the ARTIST ROOMS collection which is jointly owned with the National Galleries of Scotland. Records of items from the Tate Archive are added as they are digitised and published in the Art & artists section of the website.

The dataset includes the following data for each artwork and archive item:

  • Artist(s)
  • Title
  • Date created
  • Reference number / Accession number
  • Medium description
  • Web address (URL) of page in Art & artists section of the Tate website
  • Subject index terms
  • Image web address (URL)
  • Credit line
  • Movements

The dataset for each artist includes the following:

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Place of birth
  • Place of death
  • Web address (URL) of page in Art & artists section of the Tate website

Licence and copyright

The dataset is published under the permissive Creative Commons Zero (CC0)licence. Detail is given in the full text of the licence agreement.

Images are not included and are not part of the dataset. Use of Tate images is covered on the Copyright and permissions page. You may also license images for commercial use.
