The page contains a sketch, drawn horizontally, of castle buildings on a rocky hillside. Finberg identified this sketch as ‘Tancarville Castle’,1 and this location has been confirmed2. In a few simple lines, Turner conveys the shapes of the castle buildings, such as the rounded central tower. (For further information on the castle, see under folio 46 recto, D23788.)

Technical notes:
There is a small brownish stain at the lower right of the page, which is an imprint of the stain on folio 51 recto opposite (D23798). There are also fainter brownish marks at lower left and upper left, as well as faint thumbprints on the left (appearing between the buildings) and left edge of the page.
