This study of figures is related to group in the foreground of the View of Richmond Hill and Bridge exhibited at Turner’s Gallery in 1808 (Tate N00557).1 Studies for the whole composition are on folios 35 verso and 37 verso of the sketchbook (D05827, D05831).
