See catalogue note to folio 35 verso of the sketchbook (D05889) for other sketches likely to show scenery around Sutton Courtenay. This example must show the river or mill stream near what is now Mill House; the Mills, used later for paper mills, and a barn a little further upstream were converted into a residence, The Wharf, at the end of the century. The sketch may be related to the contemporary, unfinished oil Weir and Cattle (Tate N02705),1 for which a location on the River Wey had formerly been suggested.2
