Accepted by the nation as part of the Turner Bequest 1856
In pencil annotations to a copy of Finberg now in Tate’s Library, Edward Croft-Murray suggested that the subject is ‘Old Roar’ waterfall near Hastings, which seems right. The waterfall is in The Ghyll, near East Hill.
The leaf is stained.
