Drawn with the sketchbook inverted. See note to folio 62 verso (D10296; Turner Bequest CXXXVII 59a) for views thought by Finberg to be of Pevensey Castle, but possibly not. Gerald Wilkinson observes the ‘virtuoso’ drawing of the trees in this example, adding ‘This is a drawing which has never ceased to fascinate me’.1
