A view of Dunbar Castle from the west, continuing on folio 24 (D13624; CLXVII 23); the present page, like folio 22 verso (D13621; CLXVII 21a) is dominated by a large rock in the foreground at the left. Although this part of the sketch is rather slight, Turner has made three inscriptions recording variations in its appearance, with areas of ‘grass’ and ‘rock’. At the right are several rocks just off the coast where the promontory, on which the castle was built, falls into the sea.
