Following a view of St. Bernard’s Well from the north (folio 37; D13644; CLXVII 35), here is a view from the opposite side. Turner’s approach is again to complement the classical-style monument by depicting the trees in a Claudian manner. The artist made four sketches of St. Bernard’s Well on this occasion, all from different angles (see folio 37; D13644; CLXVII 35).
