This page contains three separate drawn elements. Firstly the leaf details along the edge nearest the spine of the sketchbook which represent the top of the sketch of the palm tree on the opposite page, see folio 43 verso (D15377). Secondly, in the centre there is a very faint inverted outline of a series of arches, possibly a bridge or an aqueduct. Finally, the sketch of buildings in the top right-hand corner is a continuation of the panorama on a previous page. Turner has pulled the sheet up, see folio 43 (D15376), and extended the view of the River Tiber and the Ponte Rotto onto the underlying page, allowing him to include the Capitoline Hill and the tower of the Palazzo Senatorio.
