See Introduction to the sketchbook for Turner’s visit to Tabley in 1808. The reading of Turner’s inscription, suggested by Finberg, seems right and this could be the near the wooded road towards Tabley from Knutsford. Turner’s note might refer to Over Tabley nearby.
