With the sketchbook inverted is a pencil inscription by Turner. As with the inscriptions across folios 12 verso–13 verso (D25547–D25549), which this page may relate to, it is largely illegible and no coherent meaning has been discerned.

There is a pink mark at the top right which has transferred from John Ruskin’s red ink inscription on folio 21 (D25563).
