Across this page and folios 32 verso (D22586) is a slight and rapidly executed sketch of the outline of hills. These are likely to have been made by Turner from a moving coach as he made the journey between Appleby and Barnard Castle, probably from near Brough, drawings of which follow in the sketchbook (see folios 33 verso–37 verso; D25588–D25596).
